Mentorship is a powerful tool in leadership development, fostering growth, enhancing skills, and building professional networks. Through mentorship, experienced leaders can pass on valuable insights and experiences, shaping the future of emerging leaders.


Throughout my career, mentorship has played a crucial role, both as a mentor and a protégé. For instance, early in my administrative career, I was mentored by a seasoned executive who guided me through complex decision-making processes and strategic planning. This relationship not only accelerated my learning but also provided me with a model of leadership that I still emulate today.


As a mentor, I strive to provide the same support and guidance. One of my most rewarding experiences was mentoring a young professional in our department who showed promise in project management. By sharing knowledge and offering challenging projects, I watched this mentee grow into a confident and capable leader, eventually taking over major departmental projects.


Strategies for Effective Mentorship:
